Projects

Student Projects using HyperWorks -The Altair Student Guides are accompanied by Instructor’s Manuals – printed books with DVDs containing audio-visual solution manuals. Access to HyperWorks software is not essential for the instructor, unless of course you choose to solve the problems yourself before working with your students. In this case, you will need access to the complete suite of HyperWorks products.

Student Projects using HyperWorks

thumbnail

Student Projects using HyperWorks: Each Instructor’s Manual describes several assignment problems that highlight different applications of HyperWorks. Each problem is independent, and is complete in itself. Data files are provided as relevant – IGES files, HM files, etc. Students may choose to do more than one, depending on their interest.

To make best use of the material you will need a computer with a sound-card and speakers. Your computer should have a media-player program (such as Windows Media Player) and an Internet Browser that supports JavaScript. Click here to browse the Student Guides and the Student Project Summaries online, or to download the audio-visual solution-manuals for offline viewing.

Linear Optimization - OptiStruct - Projects

Projects using OptiStruct -OptiStruct brings FEA to the front of the design-cycle. Apart from optimizing existing designs, it can even be used to suggest a design, given the design space. Currently restricted to optimization of problems that are linear in response, it provides investigations into the topology, topography, shape and size of the object being …

MultiBody Dynamics – MotionView and MotionSolve - Projects

Projects using MotionView and MotionSolve -Engineers working with CAE techniques such as FEA require data such as loads to get started. Where can these loads come from? Multi-body Dynamics, also called mechanisms analysis, solves this problem – and many more. Unlike CAD packages which address only the kinematic solution for an assembly, MotionView and MotionSolve …

Process Management and Customization – Process Manager - Projects

Projects using HyperWorks Process Manager -Managing data and processes is one of the fastest growing areas in CAE. While a knowledge of any programming language or method won’t hurt, it is not essential. Our study will be restricted to the HyperWorks context, which requires a relatively narrow and relatively deep focus. As these projects show, …

Sheet Metal Forming – HyperForm and Radioss - Projects

Projects using HyperForm and Radioss -Simulation of sheet-metal forming involves some of the more difficult aspects of analysis – plastic flow, residual stresses, work-hardening, and large deformations, to name a few. Radioss’ capabilities cover all these aspects, but understanding the mechanics is often beyond the scope of undergraduate studies. Using HyperForm as a front-end, students …
