Fellowship Programs

Altair University Fellowship Program

With an entrepreneurial spirit and an environment that encourages individual empowerment, Altair Engineering has long supported higher learning at universities and research institutes. For more than 20 years, the company has actively sponsored educational competitions and formally recognized innovation in engineering. In addition, Altair has an ongoing program to provide advanced computer-aided engineering (CAE) software to universities for engineering instruction and research.

Now, Altair is proud to introduce the Altair University Fellowship Program. The program will establish regional centers of expertise in HyperWorks CAE software instruction and research application at several current Altair client universities in North America. One-year Altair Fellowships (renewable for up to two years) will be granted to as many as two exemplary Master’’s- or Ph.D.-level graduate students at these universities. The Fellowship will provide a stipend toward annual tuition cost. Fellows will be trained in HyperWorks at Altair regional headquarters, using classroom modules and Altair’s online commercial tutorials.

The fellowship program supports the educational development of outstanding students, as well as increases the knowledge and use of HyperWorks software in academia and industry. The selected universities and regional institutions will also benefit from having graduate students with expertise in advanced CAE software on-hand to train engineering staff and students.

Altair will also co-sponsor a biannual technical conference with the universities. The conference is directed to regional universities as well as the regional commercial HyperWorks client community.

Altair University Fellows agree to the following conditions and requirements:

  • Fellows must be available to train at Altair regional headquarters.
  • Fellows must provide HyperWorks training to students and members of the regional HyperWorks client community on an agreed-upon schedule.
  • Fellows must make a contribution to finite-element course development, HyperWorks tutorial development and HyperWorks case studies.

As part of the program, a limited number of internships will be available at Altair Engineering headquarters in Troy and at selected Altair regional offices. The internships are for a four-month period, scheduled throughout the year.
